Loose 5-Rib Braid

Elongated 5-Rib Braid

This braid is exactly like the Loose 5-Rib Braid, except that it has a 10-row repeat rather than 8 rows — there are 2 extra rows between each set of right-, then left-crossing cables. This stretches the braid, and the technique can come in handy if you’re trying to combine the braid with another 10-, 20-, or 30-row pattern.

Elongated 5-Rib Braid

6-Rib Braid

Here is a braid worked from a knit 3, purl 1 rib. Like the previous braids, it uses right crossings alternating with left crossings every fourth row. The crossings are 3/1/3 with a neutral purl stitch in the center. The pattern begins with one central crossing; moves out to two, then three crossings; and back to two, then one.
